Testimonials

My husband and I and our friends who live in San Miguel rode on May 6, 2011. What a wonderful experience! The family was very friendly and accommodating, the lunch fresh and delicious. I would recommend this experience to anyone who wants a real taste of Mexico, beautiful scenery and some adventure!

We had a fantastic afternoon riding and talking to Tomas and Felix. Horses are very well trained and the nature makes you think of Western movies. While we were out with horse, Chely - wife of Tomas - took a great care of our 1 year old girl. We have been most satisfied with the whole experience and highly recommend it to others.

Riding horseback at sunset with Tomas and his brothers were knowledgable, attentive, fantastic and FUN! The dinner served by their families on our return to the ranch was amazing. The best enchiladas I have ever had. A definite must do when visiting San Miguel de Allende and the Corazon de Mexico!

This place has it all. From beautiful panoramic views, well established trails allowing you to get close but not too close, singing cowboys and enjoying a fantastic sunset all from horseback as the home cooked meal is prepped back at the ranchero. Best cheese in Mexico and the pictures we took were as memorable as the ride. Thanks to Chema for recommending the highlight of our trip to San Miguel.

Tomás and Felix Morin are amazing, and so are their horses. I had no riding experience and was apprehensive even about getting in the saddle, but Tomás quickly understood my needs and tailored the ride to my liking. My mount was so sure-footed that soon I wasn't nervous at all. While I didn't complete the ride, I was perfectly satisfied. The rest of our party of four enjoyed a thrilling sunset ride down a gulch and through a creek. It was a wonderful chance to be out in the beautiful countryside and to meet this hard-working, charming family.

I have ridden with both Thomas and Felix twice during the month of October. With years of riding experience, I was not sure if this is something that I would enjoy. I had more fun on these rides than Any ride I have had. I was surprised to see my husband, who is not comfortable on a horse spend the day, ride at a full gallop and talk about the ride for weeks.

Simply the best!

Tomas and Felix are not only experienced riders and guides, they are among the most gracious people I have met in my many years of traveling in Mexico. A trip to San Miguel de Allende is not complete without a visit to the Morin family's Xotolar Ranch. I have made the ride with them with children and with seniors. No matter how experienced or inexperienced your party is, Tomas and Felix can do the job.

Three years ago as we were discovering San Miguel we found Tomas and his brother Felix. Since we bought a little place in San Antonio and ride every time we are in town. Everything is authentic, the people, the farm, the sceneries and those horses are just amazing, up and down canyons and galloping in the river. We just love it. Highly recommended!

The horseback ride was a real adventure and offered us a view of the Mexican countryside we wouldn't have gotten otherwise. While vacationing in San Miguel, we met Tomas Morin, a native of the San Miguel area, whose family lives on a ranch outside the city. He and his family offer horseback rides on their ranch. They provided transportation to and from the ranch and served a delicious lunch after the ride. Tomas is very knowledgeable about the area and speaks English well.

Xotolar Ranch is located 45 minutes outside of San Miguel de Allende. Tomas or Felix Morin who were born and raised on the ranch will pick you up in SMA and take you on the picturesque ride to their property. En route you will pass the Tolteca pyramid. The ranch is located in the beautiful high countryside. I was a bit aprehensive because I had not ridden a horse in 20 years but I need not have worried. The horses are very tame and easy to ride. In fact later on when Felix asked me if I wanted to trot or gallop I felt comfortable enough to say yes. The ride takes you up and down a mountain and over and through a beautiful river. Along the way you pass cattle and countless cacti. At Felix's urging a sampled some small cactus fruits which tasted like blueberries.

The ride was beautiful, relaxing and fun. Afterwards guests are invited to dine at the family ranch. The food is both well prepared, delicious and unusual. I had empanadas filled with pumpkin flowers. I highly recommend the Xolotar Ranch for not noly an enjoyable horseback ride but for the authentic, non-commercial Mexican hospitality.
